Flossing and cleaning in between your teeth

Flossing: The Forgotten Hero To Your Teeth

We all know that it’s important to brush our teeth, but what we often forget to do is floss. And yet, flossing is so important. Bacteria can easily hide behind the teeth, where the tooth brush can’t reach, and can lead to decay, gum disease, or cavities. That can be damaging to your dental & overall health, and costly, time-consuming or uncomfortable to remedy, and that’s such a pity when maintaining a spectacular smile can be easily and simply prevented by developing a good flossing routine.

      How do I floss?

What a lot of people don’t realise is that there are quite a few options for reaching those between-teeth areas, so just about everyone will be able to find something they are most comfortable with, even if they find standard flossing techniques to be difficult or uncomfortable.

      These options include:

      Floss itself

The standard option is an excellent way of reaching tight spaces, and is readily available everywhere, so you’ll be able to find some easily whenever you need it.

      Interdental brushes

As the name suggest, these look a little like tooth brushes, but are very small in size, and designed so that the bristles will fit between the teeth.

      Picks

Another common options, picks are small, ribbed options that operate in a similar way to floss. Many people find the design of them easier to grip and therefore use than floss.

      Water jets

For people that are less comfortable with sticking something solid between their teeth, a water jet is a popular option. As the name suggests, one of these allows you to squirt water between the teeth gaps in order to clean them out.
